Current conflicts are evidencing the need to move to higher frequencies in terms of threat detection, including UAS. CommsAudit, a specialist in RF systems and sub-systems, has today announced their CA7629 Down Converter – the latest addition to its secure communications portfolio.
The CA7629 Down Converter extends the operating frequency range of any in-service and new to market 6GHz capable receivers – increasing their frequency range up to 18GHz. The high-band input provides frequency conversion down to an intermediate frequency (IF) of 3.5GHZ with a bandwidth of 1 GHz, providing greater flexibility and interoperability across operational domains.
When used with CommsAudit’s CA7852 wideband receiver, the system achieves a sub-10dB noise figure from 20MHz-18GHz, delivering impressive sensitivity with two independent channels and 100 MHz digitised bandwidth.
The down converter can be co-located with an existing radio. It is also small and light enough to be mast mounted with a digitiser, converting RF to digitised data for lossless transmission via ethernet to maximise system sensitivity and probability of intercept.
The unit incorporates sub-octave pre-selection that provides robust performance in congested and contested electromagnetic environments. Multiple outputs provide signal routing flexibility and enable multiple digitiser channels to access the down-converter resources.
