SubSea Craft completed the strategic investment on 14 August 2026, building on an existing technical relationship between the two companies. Financial terms were not disclosed.
LORILLION, headquartered in Coventry with additional offices in Prague, specialises in bespoke battery systems for defence, marine, aerospace and automotive applications. The company provides services spanning concept development, design, validation, certification and production.
The investment is expected to fund an expansion of LORILLION’s engineering workforce to over 70 people, accelerate development of its proprietary battery management technology, and support the opening of a new production facility in the Midlands, scheduled for next year.
A key driver of the deal is SubSea Craft’s VICTA platform, seen in the main image above, a dual-domain maritime vehicle intended to give special operations forces a covert maritime insertion capability. VICTA is designed to operate at depths exceeding 50 metres, placing significant demands on its power systems. SubSea Craft said the investment would give it closer oversight of battery development and supply for the programme.

Camilla Martin, Chief Executive Officer of SubSea Craft, described the battery as “a mission-critical system” rather than a commodity component, and said the partnership would allow the company to maintain tighter control over performance and supply chain resilience.
Richie Frost, CEO of LORILLION, said the deal would enable the company to offer customers a complete route from initial battery concept through to certified production.
Both companies framed the arrangement as contributing to the UK’s sovereign industrial capability in battery technology, reducing reliance on overseas suppliers for defence and marine applications.
SubSea Craft is based in Portsmouth and focuses on the development of manned and unmanned maritime platforms for defence customers.
